The 2016 BET Awards were on everyone’s lips last night and for good reason. From the showstopping surprise opening from Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar, and the ongoing Prince tributes throughout the night, to the epic humanitarian award acceptance speech from actor and activist Jesse Williams.

Now the ratings are in and it looks like once again, the annual celebration has dominated and proven to be one of the best and most watched award shows out. According to official reports:

The 2016 BET Awards was viewed by 7.2 million total viewers June 26 across 12 Viacom-owned networks, including MTV, VH1, Comedy Central and Spike. Last year’s affair had 6.5 million total viewers, according to BET’s analysis of Nielsen numbers, and aired on just BET and Centric.

The telecast drew 3.8 million people 18-49, up 10% from last year, for a 4.27 rating.

BET was live for almost seven hours, pre show to post show, drawing 4.5 million total viewers, according to the network, and a 2.77 rating in 18-49.

BET also reported that over 623,000 people generated close to 3.5 million tweets related to “2016 BET Awards.”

Kudos to BET for another phenomenal show! We can’t wait to see what they have in store next year.
