It’s been quite some time since we’ve heard from R&B singer Ameriie (formerly Amerie), but the DC native is back and ready to hit the scene with some new music. Following the release of her buzz single “Out Loud” a few months ago, the singer stopped by The Breakfast Club on Thursday, May 19 to chat about what she has going on.

Ameriie opened up on her seven year hiatus from music, what she thinks is the reason behind her not “popping” the way people expected after the release of “One Thing” and the songs influence on other artists, her new EP Drive, her love of writing, her relationship with her husband and much more.

A is also set to perform in her hometown of DC for the 2016 Gay Pride events hosted by Daryl Wilson. Ameriie will take the main stage at the National Fairgrounds near the National Baseball Stadium on Monday, May 30 from 2-9pm.
