August Alsina fans who are awaiting his new album which was set to drop this year, might be waiting quite a bit longer according to the singer.

Earlier this year the R&B crooner released the singles ‘Drugs,’ ‘Wait,’ and ‘Lonely,’ which were all set to appear on his third studio album, but the music and promotion for the project and singles abruptly stopped. Now the New Orleans native is revealing why.

When quizzed on Twitter by fans on the status of the project, the singer responded and didn’t hold back at all.

“I would love to put my album out but DEF JAM is holding it/me hostage because the system is not up & running until next year so they basically dont exist,” he tweeted about the status of his LP. “The label is just TRASH .. I will release free music soon but that has been the hold up. Tell Them to FREE ME & the Album.”

Yikes! August has had a long standing issue with his label since the release of his second album, when he took to twitter in 2015 to lash out at them after the project was leaked online the day before release.

“I didn’t do this. My shitty ass label did it. They’re just fucking Shitty! Smh,” he wrote at the time. “Can’t win for f*ckin losing dawg. F*CKKKKKKKKK YOU @DefJamRecords.”

Good luck August!
