‘Bangers You’ve Probably Never Heard’ or BYPNH is a new feature here at JJC where we will highlight just that, songs that for whatever reason were unreleased by some of your fave artists or were released but never made it big. To kick it off I am showcasing one of my fave songs from former girl group 3LW.

In fall 2003 3LW departed from Epic Records and signed with Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def Records. Adrienne Bailon and Kiely Williams were gearing up to release their third album ‘Point of No Return’ and introduce the world to their newest member Jessica Benson, a Washington DC  native who was brought in the group after the messy split and highly publicized outing of member Naturi Naughton.

The album was supposed to be released in 2006 and the ladies dropped a video and single ‘Feelin’ You’, but the project was pushed back to a 2007 release because of Adrienne and Kiely’s involvement with Disney’s Cheetah Girls, and eventually fell off the release schedule. The album delays were caused by image conflicts between both groups and ultimately the girls disbanded after being taken off the So So Def roster.

There are several unreleased songs from that album that surfaced online, however one in particular was the clear standout track. The Rich Harrison produced ‘Do Ya’ had a very similar sound to Rich’s other mega hits that were dominating radio at that time including Amerie’s ‘One Thing’ and Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Get Right’ feat. Fabolous.

The track had potential to be a big success for the ladies on radio and in the clubs, but alas it never saw the light of day. Get into the banger below.
