Following that dreadful attempt at a tribute to Prince done by Madonna just weeks ago at the Billboard Music Awards, if you were like me you instantly began throwing out names for the BET Awards and their planned tribute.
Names that would do the legend and his history justice. BET also shaded the tribute and promised that they would make up for that disaster, and now the network has unveiled the first round of names who will feature in the highly anticipated honoring on their June showing.
Some of the names I suggested were Janelle Monae, Andre 3000, Lenny Kravitz, Sheila E, Miguel and a few others. Well it looks like BET has snagged two of those so far. Janelle and Sheila will join The Roots, D’Angelo and more acts to be announced.
Check out the announcement below ahead of the annual show that tapes and airs live on Sunday June 26th at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theatre.
