It looks like for season 3 of ‘Empire‘ the hit show is set to continue its reign on prime time, and to ensure they do so, the network has brought in even more star power to join the show.
It was previously reported that Mariah Carey was set to join the show in some capacity, and now on it has officially been confirmed. The announcement was made on Monday, August 8 at the Television Critics Association summer press tour. And the pop superstar will not be playing herself.
The living legend will play Kitty, a mega-superstar who comes to Empire to collaborate with Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) on an explosive new song. When the duet encounters obstacles, Kitty helps Jamal dig deep to overcome personal difficulties and reach a musical breakthrough.
Elsewhere in season 3, fans should expect to see Tyrese, Taye Diggs, Birdman and rapper French Montana make appearances when the show returns on September 21 to FOX.
