Fans of the cult classic ‘Friday’ received a major update on Monday (Aug 22) about the status of the highly anticipated ‘Last Friday‘ that fans have been begging for for years.

The film’s two sequels, Next Friday, which came out in 2000, and Friday After Next, which was released in 2002, did well, but failed to live up to fans standards. Mainly because Chris Tucker was absent from both of those, despite the fact that funny man Mike Epps was added to the cast.

Well the franchise creator and star, Ice Cube has been trying for some time to get the final installment up and running, and to have it include the original cast including Tucker. Well according to Cube, he has the script and everything ready to go but is just waiting on the film’s production company to make the next move.

“We had a meeting. Can’t do Last Friday unless we can do it right. Ball is in New Line Cinema’s hands. Bat is in mine” he posted on Monday, along with an animated snap of the cast of characters, including Tucker’s infamous character Smokey.

There was also a fake post going around days ago suggesting that Cube’s son was starring in a Friday reboot,(not sequel) but Cube quickly shut that rumor down.

Are you here for the Friday finale? Guess we will be waiting to see what the studio does next. Considering the first one costs $3 million to make, and returned a profit of over $30 million, seems like a no brainer.
