Ever ahead of the curb when it comes to speaking on social injustices since her game changing album Rhythm Nation, Janet Jackson has never shied away from using her platform to increase awareness, call for action, and demand change when it comes to these injustices during her over three decade career.
The singer released a song “Can’t Be Stopped” back in 1997 on her critically acclaimed groundbreaking album The Velvet Rope. The song served as a hidden bonus track and was one of my fave highlights on the project.
Well in the wake of the police shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile this week, a video featuring Janet’s song was unveiled featuring Jesse Williams‘ poignant and inspiring 2016 BET Awards speech from a few weeks ago. The clip also features pro black images and speaks on police brutality, racism, racial profiling, and how through it all, black people must remember to keep their pride and strength. Janet took to social media to share the clip, get into it below.
