Janet Jackson just kicked off her ‘State of the World‘ Tour this week, and the singer who has long been an activist, philanthropist, and voice for social issues, used her time during a recent stop in Houston to pay a visit to those affected by the Hurricane Harvey.
Janet met with 1,600 evacuees including families who are now housed at the George R. Brown Convention Center, after losing all their belongings and homes due to the hurricane. The music legend was accompanied by her brother Randy and Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, who gave her a quick tour of the shelter. Janet also vowed to donate ALL proceeds from the Houston show to local flood relief charities.
