Posted January 19, 2018

While some hip hop artists are still not able to embrace the LGBT community and our stories, Jay-Z has, and as a result, he is being honored by GLAAD (The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation).

According to reports, Hov will receive special recognition at this year’s GLAAD Media Awards. Hov will be commemorated for the 4:44 song “Smile” and its music video, which tells the story of his mother Gloria Carter’s journey as a single mother and as a lesbian.

Miley Cyrus, Halsey, Kesha, Sam Smith and RuPaul are also among the  other nominees at this year’s ceremony, which will be held in Los Angeles on April 1 and in New York on May 5.
