While social media is still in a frenzy after the EPIC showing that was the 2015 BET Awards, the official ratings numbers have come in and they are anything less than astonishing!

Hyped by the official return of Janet Jackson, complete with her ‘Ultimate Icon’ tribute anchored by Ciara, Jason Derulo and Tinashe, as well as the show stopping Bad Boy Records reunion including Puff Daddy, Faith Evans and Lil Kim, the show has pulled in massive numbers that it’s competitors (VMA’s) wish they could see.

TV By The Numbers reports that the BET Awards 2015 block of programming was watched by nearly 12 million people. Everyone tuned in with the anticipation on high to see the likes of Janet and and other music faves. Airing simultaneously on BET and Centric, the ratings breakdown read as:

* BET Pre-Show (6-8 p.m. EST) – 1.9 million viewers.
* BET Awards 2015 (8 p.m. – 11:50 p.m. EST) – 6.5 million viewers.
* BET Post-Show (11:50 p.m.-12:54 a.m. EST) – 3.4 million viewers.

These numbers have made BET the undisputed number one award show on cable television this year. In case you didn’t know the network’s annual showing is one of the highest rated cable award showings.

The word comes as great news for R&B/Hip Hop fans and the artists who are representing the culture. Despite some negative social media feedback, the network is proving that it clearly brings it’s A game and delivers each and every year with unexpected reunions, and bigger surprises with each new year. Kudos BET!
