Laverne Cox will join the likes of her idol Beyonce, President Obama, Michelle Obama and many others as she becomes the first trans person ever to be immortalized by Madame Tussauds of San Francisco. Via Advocate:

The statue of Cox — certain to be uncanny in its likeness to her, as the museum’s figures are famed for being — will be unveiled June 26, during San Francisco’s Pride celebration at the museum’s Fisherman’s Wharf location, according to Time.

“I am so deeply honored to have been asked to be a part of the Madame Tussauds legacy,” said Cox in a statement. “When I think about being who I am, a black trans woman from a working-class background raised in Mobile, Alabama, this honor feels even more improbable and extraordinary. I hope this will be a source of inspiration for everyone who encounters it to believe that their dreams matter and are possible.”

Cox’s figure was made using the museum’s signature process, which includes taking hundreds of precise body measurements and creating a “library” of reference shots for the selected pose.

That carefully chosen pose seems likely to be the statuesque stance Cox takes on her now-famous“Transgender Tipping Point” Time cover, with her high-heeled feet crossed just-so at the ankles, judging from the behind-the-scenes Madame Tussauds video below.
