Major: Viral #SoGoneChallenge Propels Monica’s 2003 Single Back To Charts, Major Sales/Streaming Spike Over 407%

The recently viral phenomenon known as the #SoGoneChallenge, inspired by Monica and Missy Elliott‘s hit 2003 track, has given rappers, singers, and anyone who thinks they can spit a rhyme, a chance to hop on the track and put their own cool 2016 twist on the record.

Well thanks to the challenge, Monica will certainly be one happy woman this week, as the single has shot all the way back up the charts, over 10 years after its release. Chance The Rapper was the first person to kick off the movement with his interpertation of the song and since then, over 2 million Twitter and social media users have participated in the challenge, boosting the sales to even higher numbers. Via Forbes:

Per Apple Music, streams of the song have have increased by 233% and sales have gone up 407% since August 10. Per Spotify, streams have increased 129% and per YouTube, views of the video have gone up 309% compared to the three days before the challenge. The MonicaVEVO channel has also seen a 15.5% increase in viewership. All this spells a big fat payday for Monica, as her next royalty check for the song will be quite full.
