MTV announced it’s list of nominees this week for the upcoming 2018 Video Music Awards and while Cardi B and The Carters lead the pack of nominees, there were several reports running regarding the highly coveted Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
Apparently folks have been reporting that Missy Elliott was getting the big honor this year following the likes of Beyonce, Pink, Rihanna, Kanye West and more. After all these years we would have expected Missy to have received it a long time ago, but according to Missy– those reports are not true.
In fact, Missy says she’s not even sure if she’s on the list of possible recipients. Get into her posts below.
I’m seeing a lot of outlets reporting that I’m receiving the MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award I wanted to clear it up that I haven’t been listed. I am still humbled by the love yall have shown?❤ https://t.co/uJBgT6a3MW

If MTV doesn’t pick Missy this year, we’re not sure who they would honor at this point who has been more influential for music videos than Missy.
