Mo’Nique has made national headlines last week after she came out with the revelation that following her 2010 Oscar win for ‘Best Supporting Actress’ for her role in ‘Precious’ she was “blackballed” from the industry and according to her she was told this by her friend and ‘Precious’ mastermind Lee Daniels.

Lee went on to appear on CNN with Don Lemon just days ago and revealed that Mo’Nique turned industry insiders off due to her inability to “play the game”. According to Lee she refused to attend requested promotional events for the movie, she had outrageous demands, and that ultimately she didn’t understand that acting is not just about “show” it’s also about the “business”.

Following his appearance Mo’Nique appeared on the same show on Thursday and chatted with Don Lemon on the controversy and the comments made by her friend Lee. She clarified that she indeed was offered roles following her Oscar win, scripts were coming in and she was getting work but not on the caliber of roles for an actress who had just won an Oscar.

She also says there were no “demands” as Lee alluded but that she was requested to attend a film festival in support of the movie but due to her hectic schedule including her BET late night talk show at the time, she was unable to do so after being asked three times. She says when her husband/manager asked the studio what was the amount they were willing to pay her to appear at this event they advised that they do not pay any actress for promotional appearances.
