Tyrese stopped by The Breakfast Club this week to promote his new album Black Rose, which is his last according to him–and during his visit the R&B crooner had A LOT to get off his chest!

The singer turned actor talked about his hit single “Shame” which is currently no. 2 on billboard while his new album is set to hit no. 1 on Billboard Hot 200 next week. Despite this major success, Tyrese revealed he is not pleased by the double standards at radio and in the music industry in general.

Tyrese shared his thoughts on the fact that blue eyed soul acts such as Robin Thicke, Sam Smith and Justin Timberlake can do soul/R&B music and get supported by all radio and media outlets (urban and mainstream) but the actual R&B acts cannot get the same support for doing the same exact type of music. He gets really candid and says there is indirect racism within radio and the powers that be in the music industry. He also vented his frustration with award shows such as the Grammy’s that invite urban acts to their show only to give their awards away to mainstream acts and never really give the urban acts recognition for their work.

Elsewhere, he revealed why this album is his last and opens up on his personal issues that prompted that decision. Get into all that and more below and let us know your thoughts in the comment section.
