It looks like ‘Saturday Night Live‘ will have one less diverse face when it returns for its 42nd season this fall. According to TV Line, Jay Pharoah will be leaving NBC’s late-night comedy show and will pursue other opportunities. Jay took to IG this morning to share a snap of he and his fellow cast mates after the announcement was made.
He’s not the only one though, fellow SNL veteran Taran Killam (pictured below) is also headed out as well. Both guys had been with the show for six seasons prior to the announcement.
An NBC spokesperson confirmed the departures.
Killam will likely be best remembered for his impersonations of Matthew McConaughey, Marco Rubio and Fox & Friends co-host Steve Doocy. Pharoah, meanwhile, famously channeled the likes of Jay-Z, Will Smith, President Obama and GOP presidential hopeful Dr. Ben Carson.
SNL overlord Lorne Michaels has, of course, weathered his fair share of cast changes over the series’ four-decade run. The exec producer is expected to introduce several new cast members before the launch of the new season next month.
No word on where Jay plans to head next, but hopefully he lands on his feet and has new gigs lined up. Best of luck to both guys!
