Wendy Williams came under fire for her anti HBCU and anti NAACP comments a few weeks ago before the show wrapped its current season for summer break. As you may recall, those comments did not sit well with many viewers, specifically Roland Martin, who called Wendy out on her statements.

Roland later came on the show to educate Wendy and her audience on why those statements of hers were inaccurate and irresponsible. Wendy also reportedly lost one of her major sponsors after the big fiasco. Well now according to Page Six, right after the show had its season wrap party, a few high level staffers got their walking papers and had no clue it was coming.

“The Wendy Williams Show” has fired several producers in the wake of its host’sblundering remarks about the NAACP. We’re told longtime producer Jason Gabel and at least two other senior staff members were let go.

“The crew had a big party celebrating what they considered a season well done,” we’re told, and “the next day [some of them] got calls saying they’d been let go.”

We’re told execs want to retool the show, adding more current-affairs coverage and pop culture.

Wendy Williams found herself at the center of a furor after saying she doesn’t believe in the NAACP or historically black colleges, because there is no “white” equivalent.

She quickly apologized for the remarks.

Show reps declined to comment.

Damn! Guess Wendy will start thinking a little more before she “says it like she means it” all of time.
