For years there have been rumors and suggestions that former ‘American Idol’ judge and singer Paula Abdul take a seat at the judges table of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ and today those mumbling became official. It was confirmed that Paula is the new judge for the show’s season 12, but she isn’t alone. Also joining Paula will be pop/R&B crooner and dancer Jason Derulo.
They will join co-creator/executive producer Nigel Lythgoe at the judges table. Also returning for Season 12 of SYTYCD — which will feature a new twist in the competition: stage dancers vs. street dancers — is host Cat Deeley. Paula and Jason will be replacing outspoken judge Mary Murphy, who has been a fixture on the show for 11 seasons but recently exited her seat at the judges table.
“Paula is an incredible artist, and she brings the perfect combination of expertise and heart to the panel. Jason’s insight, humor and creativity will add a new perspective to the panel that we haven’t had before.” Lythgoe said on their additions.
This will not be Paula or Jason’s first time at the table as they both have guest judged on the show before. The new season of SYTYCD airs this summer on FOX, will you be watching?
