Today is a double dose of Throwback Thursday, following the 1996 unearthing of Ghost Town DJ’s “My Boo,” we’re digging in the crates and taking it back to another smash hit from that year.

During the time when R&B dominated the top of the charts and there were a slew of male artists owning the airwaves, from Usher, Ginuwine, Dru Hill, 112, Next, Jagged Edge, and more.

One of the biggest breakout ballads of the year came courtesy of singer, Jesse Powell and his hit ‘You.’

The love anthem took a seat on radio and stayed there nice and comfy for many weeks and ultimately became the wedding song of the year and went on to be THEE wedding song for many years to come.

‘You’ became Powell’s biggest hit of his career, peaking at No.2 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100.
