Today (March 27) marks the 44th birthday of music icon Mariah Carey and in honor of the vocal siren we decided to pay homage via today’s Throwback Thursday of the week.
Taking it back to 1997 from her stellar sixth album ‘Butterfly’ comes the Diddy (then Puff Daddy), Q-Tip and Stevie J orchestrated hit ‘Honey’. The hip hop tinged number which Carey also helped pen become her third single to debut no.1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and stayed there for three weeks. The track was nominated for two Grammy Awards at the 1998 Grammy Awards, for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song.
The James Bond themed visual however is what had everyone talking, as Mariah transformed from the conservative singer fans once knew her as on previous albums into the fierce sex kitten we know her as now. Mimi showed much more skin than normal and teased with her bad girl side.
Check it out below as well as its dope Bad Boy remix! (my fave)
