This week Nicki Minaj released the highly anticipated visual for her new single ‘Anaconda’ and the hyper sexual clip has already racked up over 10 million views in less than 24 hours thanks to the endless supply of skin which has also received quite a bit of criticism. The hype behind the video surely will help propel the single, but through all this we can’t forget about the core of the song which features today’s Throwback Thursday, courtesy of Sir Mix A Lot‘s 1992 hit ‘Baby Got Back’

The original song itself had its own share on controversy as it was banned from video networks including MTV for its raunchy imagery and sexual objectification of women. For all the flack it received from viewers and listeners, it also had mutual success as it was the second best-selling song in the US in 1992, behind Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”, with sales of 2,392,000 physical copies that year.In 2008, it was ranked number 17 on VH1‘s 100 Greatest Songs of Hip Hop according to Wikipedia. It’s almost Friday, so why not pop it a little, get into it below!

and just for comparisons sake…
