Timbaland Teases New Missy Elliott Album “It’s Something You Ain’t Never Heard Missy Do”

For years fans of Hip Hop innovator Missy Elliott have patiently waited for the iconic rapper to return with new music.

In September 2012, Missy released two Timbaland-produced songs, “9th Inning” and “Triple Threat,” off her then tentatively-titled album Block Party. Although fans welcomed the tracks, they went mostly under the radar to the masses and shortly after, any word on the project was silent. That is until now according to her partner in crime Timbaland, according to an interview he recently did with Rolling Stone:

It’s been nearly a decade since Missy Elliott’s last solo album, 2005’s The Cookbook, but Timbaland says a new one may be on its way. “It’s coming,” the rapper’s longtime producer and songwriting partner tells Rolling Stone. “It’s on her. She got the first single, it’s just a matter of when she wants to do it. We got the hollow-tip bullet in the gun. We have the game-changer right there,” he says, making the sound of a gun firing.

“It’s something you ain’t never heard Missy do. It sounds today, but the future.” he revealed.

Despite their close relationship, the two artists work in an unusual way. “I’ve never watched her record, never in my whole career,” he continues. “I do it, she be like, ‘OK, I got it,’ and I leave the room. She kicks us out. That’s how she do it: She does everything herself.”

Missy also recently spoke with Yahoo!’s “The Yo Show,” earlier this year,  explaining the reason for the delay. “When I create something, it’s gotta be special and it can’t just be to throw something out there because I feel like I’m Missy,” said the “Work It” rapper. “I gotta feel like what I’m giving the fans is 100 percent and that it’s game-changing. I don’t just throw out microwave records.”

Missy has held her fans over until her new material hits the streets, as she had verses on Fantasia‘s “Without Me” and and Faith Evans new single “I Deserve It,”. Back in June we all screamed frantically as she joined forces with her fellow VA native Pharrell Williams as a surprise guest during his opening at the BET Awards. Here’s looking forward to more magical moments and that single from Misdemeanor in the near future!
