Usher fans who were expecting to get the follow up to his 2012 album ‘Looking For Myself’ may be waiting a little longer. The R&B vet confirmed to Billboard that the album which was scheduled to drop this fall will be delayed.

“The album isn’t scheduled anymore. I’ve basically taken it back. I’m taking my time with it,” he tells Billboard. “At the end of the day, all of this is just about having fun. You get in the studio [and] go with how you feel.”

He reveals that this time around he is focusing on “having fun”

Just because Usher is taking his time doesn’t mean however that he isn’t working, as he also confirmed fans should expect to hear a new record from he and Chris Brown in addition to their current single ‘New Flame’ which will appear on Chris’ album ‘X’ which drops next Tues September 16.

There is another record that we worked on for the album. The relationship is great… we’ve been able to build.” he said on the new Chris track.

Usher can’t give too much detail on the other album elements as he is still piecing together the theme and what he wants fans to hear.

“It’s not about a specific topic or specific period of my life. I work on 40-50 songs in making an album,” he says of UR. “I haven’t finished the album enough to tell you what I’m talking about.”

“It was just a different take. It’s something that feels very modern, but the vocal on it feels very specific to my style. I wanted to do something that I felt like would be current, but wouldn’t necessarily conform specifically,” he continues.

Meanwhile as fans wait for the project, you can still see him as he hits the road for his ‘The UR Experience’ which kicks off on November 1 as he touches down in 27 cities with opening act August Alsina. Tickets went on sale this week and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.com
