Last fall when R&B angel Aaliyah‘s uncle Barry Hankerson began promoting on the Twitter that is alleged to be his that there was a movie underway which would air on VH1, many questions were left unanswered. This week when it was announced that Lifetime would now be taking the reigns and producing the film to air on their network and that the lead role had been filled, many more questions were raised, including was Hankerson still a part of the project? what happened to the VH1 movie? etc.

This week it was also revealed that Aaliyah’s mother and brother had absolutely no say in the project and that the film was being made against their wishes. Many began to point fingers at Hankerson for his part in this but today comes word that he allegedly is just as uninvolved and unaware as Aaliyah’s mom and brother. According to TMZ:

Aaliyah’s uncle and former manager, Barry Hankerson, tells us the family is pissed that no one from the network contacted them about the movie.

Hankerson says the family will block any attempt on Lifetime’s part to use any of Aaliyah’s music.  He says the family has hired a lawyer and will do everything they can to block release of the flick.

The family is not opposed to a big, theatrical film, but thinks a TV movie is too small for someone as big as Aaliyah.

Lifetime has a slew of fights on their hands now as after it was reported that they were producing the Whitney Houston project set to air on their network as well, the Houston family spoke out and has threatened to take legal action against the network. They want to stop production of the movie which is set to start in weeks so that they can produce their own movie for major theater distribution.
According to TMZ, Lifetime has not issued a response.
