
Ashanti reacted to the death of Irv Gotti shortly after his passing last month, and now the former Murder Inc. star is opening up more in a new interview.
The 44-year-old singer sat down with Angie Martinez in the latest episode of her IRL podcast, which dropped this week.
In the new sit-down, which is their second one for the podcast, she opened up about her reaction to his death, the tribute post she shared, and their estranged relationship.
The news comes just weeks after Ashanti shared her heartfelt tribute to Irv on her acknowledging that they weren’t on good terms, but also expressed gratitude for everything that he did for her.

In the new interview she opened up on how she is processing the loss, reveals she wanted peace between them, and tried to reconcile to no avail.
“It was a lot to process. I was really sad and I’m still sad that it ended like this. There was a time where things were just amazing and I know that I always wanted peace for both of us and to be cordial. I wished peace for him and I prayed for him to be at peace. You don’t really see this coming. It came out of nowhere.”
She contiunued…
“I’m sad that the last few years we weren’t seeing eye to eye. What I do know is that I tried. I do know that I extended the olive branch and again, I just wanted things to be cool. I didn’t want no smoke.
