Ava DuVernay’s ‘When They See Us‘ has taken Netflix and the world by storm!
The four part series tackles the story of the wrongly convicted Central Park Five, and has audiences enraged, in tears, outraged and overall emotional after watching it. Many have taken to social media to chime in on the conversation surrounding the series, and all of that energy has translated into stellar ratings.
It was announced this week that the series is Netflix’s most-watched series since its May 31 premiere, the streaming service.

Netflix doesn’t release their actual viewership numbers, so it is unknown exactly how many subscribers have been tuning in, but it sounds like a very large number.
The popular miniseries tells the tragic story of five teens — Kevin Richardson, Antron McCray, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana, and Korey Wise — who were variously convicted of assault, rape, and attempted murder based on what they long maintained were coerced and false confessions.
Their sentences were eventually vacated in 2002. The Harlem natives sought out the Selma director personally to tell their story.
Congrats to Ava and the cast.
