All four members of Boyz II Men reunited this weekend after over two decades.
Fans of the group know that former Bass singer, Michael McCary left the group in 2003 and initially it was not publicized why.
It was later revealed that he was secretly suffering from chronic back problems and personal issues. McCary’s back spasms were eventually diagnosed as multiple sclerosis (MS).
In 2016, Michael appeared on an episode ‘Iyanala: Fix My Life’, and revealed how his health struggles led to a strained relationship with his former bandmates Wanya Morris, Shawn Stockman, and Nathan Morris.
According to the singer, he began having back spasms while performing in the group, which he had attributed to scoliosis.
He never fully opened up about being diagnosed with the autoimmune disease to his bandmates and eventually left the band in 2003.
Though he has appeared with his former collaborators on occasion over the years, the group continues to perform as Boyz II Men without him.
Michael spoke on the mater revealing: “If I had to sum up what I got from my brothers in Boyz II Men, I would have to say betrayal, a broken bond,” McCary said on the OWN program. “At this point, we don’t even talk.”
Meanwhile, after Michael’s revelation to Iyanla, his former bandmate Wanya recounted things differently during an episode of Oprah: Where Are They Now?
“One of the problems was he had a back issue,” Morris said referencing McCary’s departure.
“It could have been fixed, instead he stopped coming to work and we had to move forward without him — and he wasn’t happy about that.”
Despite that, all four members reunited for the first time in over two decades at a Boyz II Men show in Las Vegas this weekend and shared some snaps and video from the long-overdue moment.
