Could the highly popular morning show ‘The Breakfast Club‘ be losing 1/3 of its winning formula? According to reports, quite possibly.
The shows resident provocateur Charlamagne Tha God, is approaching the end of his contract with the hit radio show that airs on Power 105.1 and Revolt TV, and reportedly he is contemplating the possibility of making his exit from the show.
According to reports from Page Six he already has “a lot of other potential deals in the air.”
“The Breakfast Club” — the Power 105.1 show he hosts with DJ Envy and Angela Yee — has become not just a magnet for hip-hop’s biggest stars, but so influential that NBC has called it “a crucial stop for 2020 Democrats.”
But Charlamagne, who founded the show in 2010, has been musing on-air about moving on, going so far as to say he’s “mentally quit” the show a lot.
“He loves working for [Power 105.1 parent company] I Heart Radio, but he is contemplating his next move,” the source told us.
“He’s not sure what he is going to do,” said the insider. “There are a lot of potential deals in the air, and he just wants to keep his options open and think strategically.”
His contract is up in December.
During a recent interview with NeNe Leakes days ago, Charlamagne touched on the fact that his contract was also up and the possibility that he just might leave the show.
The topic came up while discussing the rumors that Leakes was leaving her own series ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta,’ and Leakes quizzed the host on whether or not he’d ever quit his show.
Charlamagne revealed, “My contract’s up in December so I won’t have to.” He also admitted that he “mentally quit” the show “a lot recently.”
