Diddy Confirms He and Jermaine Dupri Will Face Off In ‘Verzuz’ Battle at Madison Square Garden [Video]

Posted May 8, 2023

The long-awaited ‘Verzuz‘ battle between Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Jermaine Dupri is finally happening according to Diddy himself.

After previously teasing the battle via Instagram Live and other platforms, it appears the music moguls will officially face off this fall.

The confirmation came via a video originally posted by Busta Rhymes on Sunday shows Diddy revealing that he’ll go up against Dupri on Sept. 8 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

“We’re gon’ have you out the rafters flying out the sky,” Diddy said to Busta while rapper Fabolous is seen next to them as well.

The two had originally discussed the possibility of doing it live in Atlanta per Dupri’s request during an IG live they did last August. The two agreed that they would showcase their solo work, and would go back-to-back with the catalogs from Bad Boy Records and So So Def Recordings.

However, the platform they would do it on was not clear due to the fact that at that time, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland had just filed a $28 million lawsuit against Triller, accusing the company of not completely paying them the amount for which Triller bought Verzuz in January 2021.

“Since we ain’t fucking with Verzuz no more since ’cause they fucking around with our boys, we don’t need to be going against each other,” Diddy said on the IG Live. “Let’s come together and do that Bad Boy, So So Def in Atlanta. It ain’t no Verzuz, it’s just hit for hit.”

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland have since resolved their issues with Triller and have teased that Verzuz is returning very soon with a new format and platform but no official details or return date were announced.
