Fans and peers of Kobe Bryant are still mourning and coming to terms with the shocking news of his tragic and untimely death on Sunday, along with his daughter and seven other passengers.

To cope with the sudden loss, many are taking to social media to continue sharing their favorite memories and moments of the NBA legend from his iconic career.

For me, one of the first times I came to know of Kobe was a pre-teen, through his friendship with one of my favorite singers who became one of his good friends in the late ’90s.

Before leaving for the NBA, Kobe attended his senior prom at 18 years old in May 1996, and his prom date, Brandy.

The two formed an adorable friendship (sometimes rumored to be a couple) which blossomed and Brandy actually helped the then up and coming baller get his first shot at acting when he appeared on her hit sitcom ‘Moesha.’
