The family of George Floyd isn’t playing around with Kanye West following his offensive ‘Drink Champs‘ interview over the weekend.
The family of George Floyd has announced plans to sue West for $250 million.
It was announced on Monday that the family would be looking into legal action and on Tuesday it was confirmed.
Roxie Washington, the mother of Floyd’s 7-year-old daughter Gianna, announced on Tuesday that she has hired a legal team and filed a lawsuit against Ye, his business partners, and his associates for harassment, misappropriation, defamation, and infliction of emotional distress.
The lawsuit comes after Ye and ‘Drink Champs’ host, N.O.R.E. received major backlash this week as we previously told you after falsely claiming that Floyd died of fentanyl consumption rather than being suffocated by a police officer’s knee.
The family’s attorneys have also sent a cease and desist letter to Kanye which reads:
“Mr. Floyd’s cause of death is well-settled through evidence presented in courts of law during the criminal and civil trials that were the result of his untimely and horrific death. Nevertheless, you have maliciously made statements that are inaccurate and unfounded, causing damage to Mr. Floyd’s estate and his family.”
The family also says Kanye’s claims are “blatantly false” and “malicious,” and that Gianna is being “retraumatized” by Kanye’s comments, which they say are “creating an unsafe and unhealthy environment for her.”

As we told you yesterday, N.O.R.E. has apologized for allowing the interview to air, and for not addressing Kanye on the spot for his anti-Semitic, and defaming comments against Floyd.
