GOP staffer Elizabeth Lauten made the big mistake of coming for the Obama daughters Sasha and Malia via social media when she posted on her Facebook about their demeanor during President Obama’s turkey pardon speech days ago. Since then the 31 year old communications director for Republican congressman Steve Fincher was forced to resign from her job and subsequently has been trashed in the media and blogs this week after her shaky background was dug up and made her look quite hypocritical for her comments regarding the first daughters.
Well if that weren’t enough now comes GOP Secretary Kim Crenier, who has this week found herself in hot water for some insensitive and racially charged tweets she made regarding the protest and unrest in Ferguson.
In a series of tweets Kim, suggested that Police use fire hoses to disperse the crowds of “thugs” as she calls them, a blatant reference to the civil rights era when blacks were sprayed with fire hoses and attacked by police dogs, but according to Kim, who is CLEARLY old enough to have been educated on the civil rights era and movement–she meant nothing of the sort. (rolls eyes).
A suggestion for Ferguson- fire hoses. Grt big fire hoses, serious water pressure. Kn0ck those thugs over. They probly need a shower anyway. she tweeted on Monday
Community leaders are not happy with her statements and are calling for her resignation however Crenier unlike Elizabeth Lauten refuses to step down from her position and says she stands by her statements.
That’s insensitive, it’s racist. To make a comment like ‘thugs’ you might as well call somebody a n**** says Pastor R.L. Gundywith the SCLC
Crenier further went on to explain her logic and justify her actions however she has deleted her tweets and made her Twitter page protected/private.
When you put it into context there is nothing sinister.
I’m not going to change their mind, but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Duval County GOP Chairman Rick Hartley said Ms. Crenier will remain in her position. The civil rights leaders demand he step down too if he does not force Ms. Crenier to resign.
