Over the weekend, reports began circulating that Beyonce was in the final stages of negotiations for her ‘Renaissance World Tour’ to head to theaters for a concert film.
Reports claimed that the deal would have the film run in AMC theaters later this year. Shortly after the reports broke, Bey’s company Parkwood issued a live countdown on their Instagram stories with the countdown ending at midnight on October 2.
The timer ends just shortly after Bey wraps up her tour with the final show in Kansas on Sunday evening (October 1).
The caption attached to the countdown read: “This A Reminder” – as fans know is a lyric from Bey’s song ‘I’m That Girl,’ which appears on the ‘Renaissance’ album.
At midnight, the countdown officially ended and it was revealed that ‘Renaissance: A Film By Beyonce‘ was the big surprise and tickets officially went on sale for various theaters including AMC, Cinemark, Regal, and booking site, Fandango.
With the announcement also came an official trailer for the documentary film. Get into it below.
