A new radio show is coming to the DMV afternoons, and we’re so here for it!
Earlier this month, it was announced that ‘The Frank Ski Show with Nina Brown’ was dropped by Howard University’s Urban AC station WHUR-FM in Washington, D.C., and Cox Media Group’s Adult R&B station WALR (Kiss 104.1) in Atlanta.
While details surrounding the show’s exit weren’t clear, fans were shocked at the news and even more so when it was revealed that Nina Brown had ultimately parted ways with the show entirely.
Ski released a statement regarding Brown’s exit and her serving as a producer and co-host for several years on the nationally syndicated show stating “I want to thank Nina Brown for her extremely valuable contributions.”
Meanwhile, since the shows exit from the 3-7 pm spot, WHUR listeners have wondered what would be next for the station, and who would take the coveted timeslot.
For the past few weeks, WHUR has teased a new afternoon program coming and dropping teasers ahead of the official August 30 announcement.
The teasers alluded to a new show with “Nina” and “Joe,” along with a laugh track using the voice of legendary Radio/TV personality and DC staple, Joe Clair.
Nina also took to her Instagram stories to tease a “big announcement” which coincided with the upcoming WHUR announcement.
On Friday (Aug. 30), it became official as ‘Nina & Joe Afternoon Show’ was announced at 3:20 pm on WHUR.
