Weeks ago it was announced that daytime talk show ‘The Real’ was set to be canceled following a slew of other daytime talkers that were set to bow out including ‘Ellen,’ ‘The Wendy Williams Show,’ ‘Maury,’ and more.
The co-hosts of the show initially denied the cancelation rumors, suggesting that the news was premature and that no final decisions had been made. Now just a couple of weeks later, the news is official and the show will end after 8 seasons on FOX stations.
Warner Bros. and Telepictures — who produce and distribute the daytime talk show confirmed the news on Friday as well as the co-hosts.
Loni Love and Garcelle Beauvais shared messages about the cancelation on their respective social media pages.
“In the end The Real cast & crew did everything we could to scale the show down. We shot 7-8 shows in 3 days, no audience, made a conference room into a studio, but in my opinion Covid costs killed this show..” shared Love
While Beauvais added “It’s been a great ride and thanks to the viewers for 8 great seasons!”

Fellow co-hosts Adrienne Bailon Houghton and Jeannie Mai Jenkins have not yet publicly commented on the news.
Seales would later depart the show in June 2020 citing issues with production behind the scenes and not being able to speak freely on issues that pertain to black women. In July of that year, Tamera also announced her exit from the show. She was later replaced by Garcelle, who joined the cast as a permanent co-host in August 2020.
According to insiders, Warner Bros. opted to end the show after Fox stations declined to pick up another season, and the sources claim the cancelation has nothing to do with the launch of ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show,’ or the new Sherri Shepherd talk show ‘Sherri’ both that launch this coming fall.
RIP ‘The Real’
