The sixth and final season of ‘Power‘ debuted on Starz on Sunday, and as excited as fans were for their favorite crime-street drama series to return–they were also left quite upset over a very noticeable and unnecessary change.
The shows intro theme song ‘Big Rich Town‘–which has been sung by R&B singer Joe since the shows first season–had been changed for an updated version by fellow crooner Trey Songz.
Many fans were not here for Trey’s new version and took to social media to let it be known.

Finally catching up on #Power.. but WTF? @50cent Next Sunday we expect the original!
The social media backlash was so much, that the shows creator, 50 Cent had to reply to the backlash and defend his decision to make the change.

He even engaged in poking fun at himself over the drama.

Joe like what the fuck you thought you was doing 50, put it back. ? #lecheminduroi #bransoncognac
Trey even chimed in on the drama to let fans know the decision was actually not his, and that he told 50 to keep the original version as is.
Well on Wednesday (Aug. 28) Joe himself returned to social media for his first post since March 2019, to react to the feedback.
The singer tagged 50 in a post to Instagram and revealed that he is traveling internationally, but planned to follow up on the matter once he gets settled.
All in favor say I! FANS HAVE A LOT OF #power! Ya’ll are amazing! Will hit y’all once I’m settled in AFRICA @50cent – ALL LOVE – (we made a classic!) #power #powerthemesong #therealjoethomas
It looks like 50 might have to change it back to the original before the new episode airs on Sunday.
