Singer/Chef, Kelis, and her husband/photographer, Mike Mora confirmed last year that he was suffering from stomach cancer that had progressed to stage 4.
Now, the 37-year-old has lost his battle with the disease over the weekend. Although Kelis herself has not publicly commented, her team issued a statement also confirming the news.
“Sadly, it’s true that Mike Mora has passed away. We would ask all to respect Kelis and her family’s privacy as of right now. Thank you,” revealed Steve Satterhwaite, of Red Light Management.
The news comes just months after Mike took to social media to reveal his diagnosis and document his progress. The couple remained hopeful despite doctors only giving him only 18 months to live.
Mora and Kelis secretly married in 2014 and share two children: son Shepherd, 6, and daughter Galilee, 1. Kelis also has a son Knight, 12, with ex-husband Nas.
