Singer Kelis has been at the top of the headlines since she called out Pharrell Williams and Beyonce for sampling her song on Bey’s new album ‘Renaissance‘ without giving her the courtesy of letting her know in advance.
As we previously told you, Kelis and Pharrell have had long-standing issues after Kelis revealed that her former producer cut her out of all the publishing for her first few albums.
Just hours before the release of ‘Renaissance’ Kelis took to social media to react to fans who had been tagging her and letting her know that she was listed in the credits of Bey’s album which she had no clue about.
Bey’s new track “Energy” contains an interpolation of Kelis’ hit single “Milkshake” and Kelis fired off on social media about Bey being a “thief” who has stolen from her before, and said that Bey sings about girl empowerment but doesn’t really live it.
After a long weekend of debates online from fans and on social media, Beyonce officially removed the Kelis sample from the digital version of the album. That’s not all–Bey’s sisters, Kelly Rowland and Solange also unfollowed Kelis on social media.
On Wednesday, Kelis responded to all of it and says she couldn’t care less. Get into it below.
I’m so glad someone did this, because the first listen I missed it.
