We just told you on Sunday that Chris Brown had taken to social media to reveal that he was set to be a surprise performer at the American Music Awards as part of a tribute to Michael Jackson in honor of the ‘Thriller’ 40th anniversary.
However, the show pulled the rug out from under Chris when they suddenly canceled with no explanation as to why.
Chris was also nominated for Favorite Male R&B Artist and despite deciding not to go, he still took home the honor. If you watched live, you saw that Kelly Rowland announced Chris as the winner, and there were some boos and gasps from the crowd at L.A.’s Microsoft Theater.
However, Kelly wasn’t here for the nonsense and quickly shut it down.

Kelly began trending all over social media with fans and supporters showing her love for calling out the booers who displayed bully-like behavior.
Following that, Ciara took to social media in support of Chris as well, revealing that she was also set to take part in the now axed MJ tribute. She posted a video of her and Chris dancing to “Thriller” during rehearsals.
MJ thank you for the inspiration you’ve given us all! Thriller 40th Anniversary. @ChrisBrown you’re a rare breed of this generation. Always fun to rock with you 💃🏽 pic.twitter.com/dzXgDzLMFk

We love to see the love and unity, but only wish the tribute could have happened.
