Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion gave fans a new bop to get their life to courtesy of the sexually explicit ‘WAP’ which arrived on Friday, along with its steamy video.
Well, shortly after premiering, the song and video began trending all over Twitter and social media as expected. However, unexpectedly another female Hip Hop icon began trending as well–Lil’ Kim.
Social media began giving Kim props as viewers say they clearly see the influence Kim had on female MC’s. Get into some of the tweets below that took Kim to the top of trending on Friday.

I was thinking about Misa Hylton and Lil Kim when I saw the #WAPMusicVideo. Kim’s influence is clear, but if you don’t know who Misa is I suggest checking out The Remix on Netflix. Great doc about the evolution of hip-hop fashion. https://t.co/n1bf2Ec3Ir

It made me return to this interview RuPaul did with Lil’ Kim and Pam Grier (and later, Millie Jackson joined). Lil’ Kim said, “I am Pam Grier.” What female rap has been doing for women and femme sexual expression has been long, long in the making. I love it. pic.twitter.com/iMACffNVv0

Can we just all agree collectively that Lil Kim needs to be part of this #WAP remix? Who is in charge here?

Or someone had a suggestion of Lil Kim or Foxy Brown as the elders…since the video is giving the sex aesthetic that those two women were pioneers of..they could’ve taken that opportunity to PAY HOMAGE, yet they put Plastic Playskool Peggy in the video. pic.twitter.com/33MmbjyhcD

Just sitting here thinking about how we would have never gotten the greatness that Cardi and Megan gave us if Lil’Kim didn’t step on the scene 26 years ago telling niggas her pussy was deeper than a bitch 6ft. The way we have been blessed. pic.twitter.com/Sp5nwhrvSO
