Drake came under a lot of fire in 2012 when it was announced that he was taking the captain’s seat as executive producer and mastermind behind the then scheduled new Aaliyah album. Fans and critics alike weren’t sure what to make of the news, and specifically Aaliyah’s best friends and in house collaborators Missy Elliott and Timbaland, who were responsible for crafting the fallen angel’s sound, expressed their disdain toward the news. The two who for years mastered Aaliyah’s style and albums, for the first time were not called in to orchestrate the project which rubbed them and fans the wrong way.

The fallout which ensued ultimately forced Blackground records to shelve the project even after release of a first single ‘Enough Said’ which Drake produced and featured on.  Drake later spoke on the project and his participation or sudden lack there of:

“I don’t know. I think the press got out of hand and they maybe had a different vision for it or something,”  “It was sounding great to me. Whatever they end up doing with it, I wish them the best of luck.”

He expressed that even though he was removed from the anchor seat that he still hoped his work would appear on the project:  “There might be a record on there with me and her, I’m not sure. It was great. It sounded really good.”

Well it looks like the Canadian bred rapper has some more material up his sleeve as he took to his Instagram to share a quick clip of a new song which features Aaliyah with the vague caption ’24 Hours On This Bus’ . No word however on if the track will see the light of day or if it will appear on her new album or his future material. Check out the clip below.
