Ahead of the weekend, Lizzo sent social media into a frenzy on Friday when she took to social media with a post that led fans and the media to believe that she was giving up on music.
The Grammy-Award winner shared a cryptic post on Instagram that declared she was quitting but didn’t specify what exactly. Fans immediately suspected she meant she was quitting music and announcing her retirement.
The post comes amid Lizzo being embroiled in lawsuits and allegations of workplace harassment, hostile work environment, sexual harassment and other claims from past dancers and employees.
On Tuesday, she returned to social media to clarify her statements in a new video statement.
In the clip, Lizzo confirms that while she was frustrated when she made her initial post fans ago, she says she would never give up on her music or her fans. She also reaffirmed that if she can serve as a voice or inspiration for even just one person, then she’s done her job.
