Miley Cyrus Thinks Ariana Grande Should Dirty Up Her Image + Ariana Responds

Miley Cyrus made headlines all year for everything from twerking, to raunchy outfits, or her radical statements. Her pop counterpart Ariana Grande has made her rise this year and debuted no. 1 on Billboard with her debut album without the spectacle that usually accompanies Miley.

Despite this Miley thinks that Ariana should loosen up and revamp her image into more of a bad girl like she is. During an interview with New York Times, Cyrus spoke about meeting Grande for the first time and giving her a little advice:

“I don’t have a bunch of celeb friends, because I feel like some of them are a little scared of the association. This is terrible. I was backstage with [the rising pop star] Ariana Grande. I’m like, “Walk out with me right now and get this picture, and this will be the best thing that happens to you, because just you associating with me makes you a little less sweet…

She’s trying. I see her wearing the shorter things. She comes in, and she goes, “This made me feel like you.” And I’m like, “That was like my sixth grade prom dress.” She’s, I think, still on Nickelodeon. She has people that she has to kind of respect.”

Well Ariana has heard the criticism and in an interview with Cosmo for their latest issue she responded to Miley and expressed why she is proud of her good girl image and plans to keep it:
“I think I’m an old soul. What excites younger people doesn’t excite me… I’m kind of a boring, normal girl who likes Harry Potter and to sit in her pajamas and sing. A lot of my friends are partiers, but I’ve never really clicked with that. I like Barbra Streisand, and when was the last time you saw Babs getting, like, turnt up? That’s kind of the road that I, as a lady, would like to go down.”

“I never really expected to be taken seriously as an artist, and it’s just been the ultimate, proudest achievement. I’ve dealt with a lot of people not knowing what to expect from me because of my age and my personality. People often mistake my kindness for weakness, and they didn’t expect much from me, because at the end of the day, I’m just a nice Italian girl from Boca.”

Although we understand Miley’s sentiments and agree that Ariana could loosen up a bit, we certainly don’t think taking the route Miley has chosen is the appropriate way of going about it. Specifically for when people reference or think of Miley its rarely for the talent that she actually processes but more for her reputation and behavior.
