Remember Bravo’s short lived ‘Real Housewives of DC’? The series aired in the fall of 2010 and featured five movers and shakers from the Nations Capital. According to Andy Cohen the series had some of the best ratings of the RHW’s franchise at the time, especially for its first season but that wasn’t enough to secure it a second go round. The show was cancelled along with its other freshman series ‘Real Housewives of Miami’ (which later was resurrected).
Well now it looks as though the DMV is being scouted once again for a new ‘Housewives’ style reality series from a different production company. More specifically, they are looking for prospects in Prince Georges County, one of the richest African American counties in the world (number one to be exact according to reports).
Washington Post reports that on Tuesday, a select group of Washington insiders received an e-mail from Leftfield Entertainment, the production company that’s been trying to mount a D.C. reality show for some time now.
“We’re currently casting in Prince George’s County (and surrounding areas) for the young, the wealthy and the uber-fabulous women who are proud to call it home,” read the notice from a producer fishing for names to drop in the casting pool.
Just what qualifies as an “uber-fabulous” woman ready for reality super stardom? According to the e-mail, Leftfield is searching for “the most outgoing Queen Bee” in Prince George’s. Merriam Webster online defines a “Queen Bee” as “a woman who dominates or leads a group.” (See also: rapper Lil’ Kim.)
According to Katherine Scott, the production assistant who sent the original casting notice “everything is still very very preliminary. Nothing has been decided yet” and she also emphasized that PG county is their target but other areas are being scouted as well.
“We’re interested in all different parts of the country,” said Scott. “We never want to pass over any particular area.”
If you live in the DC, PG county area would you be interested in joining or seeing a new reality series for the DMV?
