If you purchased tickets to Drake‘s upcoming ‘Do You Want a Tour’ outing that is set to kick off this Friday (October 18) with opening acts Miguel and Future, and we’re expecting a full show with all three, we have unfortunate news for you. It appears that Future has been kicked off the tour by Drake and the two are now in a nasty lawsuit battle according to Page six.
The outlet is reporting that Future, who was set to make about $40,00 per show as the supporting act on the 39 city tour, was kicked off due to an interview where he was quoted or misquoted depending on who you ask, about statements he made regarding the YMCMB headliner.
Apparently while doing an interview with Billboard associate editor Ericka Ramirez on Oct 4 in support of his album ‘Honest’, Future was quoted making some not so nice remarks about Drake when asked his thoughts on the ‘Nothing Was The Same’ album. Ramirez posted the following quote to the online article, which has since been retracted as well as tweeted it to her followers:
“Not only is future’s #honest album interesting, so are his thoughts on Drake’s #NWTS album,” Ramirez wrote. She then went on to quote Future: “ ‘Drake made an album that is full of hits but it doesn’t grab you. They’re not possessive; they don’t make you feel the way I do’ — Future.”
Once Future got word of this, he and his team engaged in a back and forth dispute with Billboard, stating that his comments were suppose to be off record and were taken completely out of context, to which Billboard reps replied:
“We regret that miscommunication surrounding Future’s recent visit, one that seemed clear to us was on the record, may have caused any trouble for the artist.”
Drake clearly upset went through management to get Future immediately pulled from the tour and was quoted as telling his management that if they did not do it, he would! according the the Page Six source. Ultimately Future was pulled from the tour initially, but over the weekend negotiations were taking place to work out a deal to keep him on, which have since faltered and Future is officially out! It is reported that Future will be filing a lawsuit this week against Drake for lost wages in the sum of 1.5 million($40,00 per show).
We’ll keep you posted as this develops.
