We showed you a snap HERE just days ago of Janet Jackson attending J.Cole‘s concert over the weekend along with her dancers, and now we know how the two are connected. Reportedly the rapper is set to appear on the official remix to Janet’s current single ‘No Sleeep’. Via Billboard,
A version of the song featuring J. Cole will be sent to radio Thursday, Billboard has exclusively learned. The new iteration with the red-hot rapper will appear on Jackson’s new album, out in late September.
Jackson’s solo version of “No Sleeep,” which will not appear on the album, rose to No. 5 in its second week on Billboard’s Adult R&B airplay chart, making it the diva’s first top five hit on that chart in 11 years.
The J. Cole version will go to the Adult R&B format, as well as Hot R&B (urban mainstream) and Rhythmic radio.
Jackson and Cole recorded the new tune in a Los Angeles recording studio two weeks ago, according to sources.
Jackson attended the Los Angeles stop on Cole’s Forest Hills Drive Tour on Sunday at Staples Center. She tweeted a photo of herself from the show surrounded by girlfriends, but gave no hint of her collaboration with the “Apparently” performer.
We knew a hip hop assisted version of the song was sure to come, and we can’t wait to see what Cole brings to the track. Since its been revealed that the J.Cole version will appear on the album and not the original version, we’re sure its safe to say the remix version will receive the official video treatment. Time will tell!
Update: The song has arrived! Check it out HERE.
