When it was announced that Rihanna is headlining the 2023 Superbowl Halftime Show in February, her adoring fans affectionately known as The Navy went into a frenzy anticipating that her long-awaited new music was on the way.
That excitement was amplified when it was later revealed that she was releasing the lead single off the upcoming ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ soundtrack via the Chadwick Boseman-inspired ‘Lift Me Up’ which arrived last week.
Now, Riri is making it clear that just because she’s doing Superbowl, does not mean that a full album is on the way.
“That’s not true. Super Bowl is one thing. New music is another thing. Do you hear that fans?” she told The Associated Press in an interview while promoting her “Savage X Fenty Show Vol. 4” show which drops Friday.
Rihanna remained coy while discussing new music, but did reveal she is working on a project but didn’t give too much away.
“The second that I announced this, I said, ‘Oh, my God, they’re going to think my album is coming. I need to get to work,’”
“I do have new music coming out. We’ll see, we’ll see. Unrelated, but a special project”
