‘The Voice’ coach Pharrell Williams is gracing the cover of the November 2014 Ebony magazine, and the fashion icon is opening up about things other than fashion and music, this time tackling race issues and his thoughts on Ferguson and how the Mike Brown incident has personally affected him.

The super producer received some criticism earlier this year when he unveiled the artwork for his album ‘GIRL’ and black women were angered that he in their opinion didn’t have enough black girls on the cover. Which prompted some to question his love for the brown skin ladies.

“I love Black women,”

He reveals . “If you don’t think I love Black women, then you don’t understand me.” He continues to add, “I have obsessed over Black women since the days of Jayne Kennedy, Beverly Peele and Roshumba Williams. Those are the women I daydreamed about growing up.”

Speaking on the issues of race and the current climate in Ferguson after the Mike Brown shooting.

I don’t talk about race since it takes a very open mind to hear my view, because my view is the sky view. But I’m very troubled by what happened in Ferguson, Mo.”

“When things like that happen, we need to be a united cell. We need connective tissue to be linked by spirit and spirituality.”

“For every individual who gets killed, someone should build a school or teach a child. We really need to balance things with positivity.”

The issue is on news stands now, peep his behind the scenes footage courtesy of Ebony HERE.
