Popular Atlanta Radio Personality Wanda Smith Dies One Day After Her Bday/ Her Former Co-Host/Friend, Frank Ski Reacts With Emotional Tribute [Video]

Over the weekend, news broke that popular radio show host and comedian, Wanda Smith, had died a day after her birthday.

The news came initially via some industry peers including Tamar Braxton, and Loni Love, but Smith’s former radio station, V-103 in Atlanta confirmed the news.

Smith, who was 59, was an influential figure within Atlanta’s media and entertainment sphere. She is most known for her stint on the “Frank Ski and Wanda In the Morning” show.

V-103’s Senior Vice President, Rick Caffey, expressed the station’s condolences in an Instagram post upon the news of Smith’s unexpected passing.

It is with heavy hearts that we grieve the loss of one of our own, Wanda Smith.

Here is the official message from V-103 SVP & Market Manager, Rick Caffey.

“Our hearts are weighing heavier today as we grieve the loss of our beloved Wanda Smith, someone who always made us smile and who was a big part of V-103 for years. We extend our deepest prayers and condolences to her family.

In her role at V-103, dating back to 1997, Wanda Smith brought so much joy and care servicing the Atlanta community. Wanda’s impact touched lives beyond making us laugh… Many times she championed efforts behind the scenes to make a difference in the lives of those who were without.

Rest in peace Wanda, as you take your place amongst the stars. We Will Miss You.”


Smith’s radio partner, Frank Ski took to social media on Sunday evening to share his emotional condolences and let fans know that he and Wanda were in talks to reunite for a new radio show.

He also shared a personal video tribute featuring recent commentary from Wanda herself before her passing.

While details around Wanda’s death are not being reported at this time, her friends have taken to social media with their heartfelt tributes.
